> 06:14 LMT — Initial Descent Log
Two days have passed since the fog first appeared, and it still refuses to lift. It clings to the bay even at midday, glowing faintly as if it draws light from the water itself. The horizon looks nearer than it should, as though the sea is folding inward.
I conducted a second survey along the lower docks this morning. The moss filaments are no longer pulsing in steady rhythms but shifting in uneven patterns, almost like a reply. When I hummed a sustained tone, the filaments aligned into a spiral pattern: three rotations clockwise, one counter. Then silence.
I do not believe these responses are a coincidence, though I am neither trained nor cleared to classify what that implies.
The tavernkeeper only offered me a cup of what I was informed was called moss-wood tea and said,
“It recognizes you now. That’s why it answers.”
No one here seems unsettled. The townsfolk move more slowly today, as if following a rhythm I cannot hear. The bells that hang above the docks are rung not to mark time but to keep pace with something deeper. Even the children’s laughter rises and falls with the tide.
I can state with certainty that this must be a common occurrence and may be considered 'normal' for the people of this town.
> 13:47 LMT — Orbital Scan Update
During the second descent from The Medusara this afternoon, I detected a disturbance beneath the surface of the bay: a circular patch of darkness expanding outward below Port Moonmarsh. The scanners read nothing—no density, no motion, only absence. I logged it as Anomaly 88-Δ-V. The void has remained stable, but I can feel it resonating through the hull, faint and steady.
> 18:09 LMT — Dusk Observation
Later in the evening, a group of locals gathered on the coral bridge that spans the inlet. They lowered glass orbs into the water, each filled with phosphor spores. When the orbs broke apart, the spores drifted through the current and illuminated the depths below. For a brief moment, I saw movement; massive shapes gliding in wide arcs beneath the town's water, flickering lights rippling down the contours of whatever bodies they may have. Their motion was slow, deliberate, and strangely graceful.
Neither marine life nor a mechanical construct, but I could tell it was something that was aware. It gives me the impression of being watched.
The phenomenon warrants official notation.
Preliminary Conclusion:
Planetary biosphere continues to display reactive intelligence.
Environmental responses correlate with local ritual activity.
Deep-sea formations beneath Port Moonmarsh show organized movement patterns. Perhaps fauna with no known documentation within the Empire's records.
Recommend delaying fleet approach until further analysis; planetary systems may resist interference.
