STARFARING LOG: ENTRY 07–317

Log TitleEchoes Beneath the Hull

Log Date: Cycle 0 – Phase II: Tideglass Convergence, Lanternmark 10

VesselThe Medusara

SystemFringe Expanse – Sector 88-Δ

Planet IdentifiedSolanthis Designation: Port Moonmarsh

04:09 LMT — System Check

The Medusara’s sensors began returning conflicting readings during the night cycle. Atmospheric density fluctuates between measurable and null within seconds, as though the air itself were choosing when to exist. Instruments recalibrate automatically, yet every correction drifts further from baseline.

The circular anomaly designated 88-Δ-V has expanded by two percent since the previous entry, though scans continue to show nothing but absence. Its perimeter now reaches the first docking tier. The townsfolk show no concern. When questioned, they claim the bay “breathes with the Lantern’s rhythm.”

I cannot determine whether this is superstition or understanding.

08:23 LMT — Communications Delay

Fleet Command acknowledged my previous report but requested clarification on “reactive intelligence.” Transmission lag measured at 14.3 hours outbound, 12.9 inbound. The delay is consistent with distance, but the static carried within the response packet was not Fleet-coded. Embedded audio residue resembled low-frequency tonal hum—identical to that recorded beneath the walkways at Port Moonmarsh.

The possibility that Solanthis is replicating transmission signatures cannot be dismissed.

14:46 LMT — Surface Anomaly Observation

Descending again via shuttle craft Tidewake-β. The fog has deepened into a dense vapor field. Visibility reduced to under twenty meters. The skeletal tavernkeeper stood at the docks before departure, unmoving, his hat tilted toward the water. The moss filaments along his arms were dimmed, almost inert.

The bay’s surface now displays faint, radial pulses—light expanding outward from the dark center like a heartbeat seen through glass. No temperature variation detected, yet the air near the shoreline vibrates faintly.

During descent, I heard a sound beneath the static of the ship’s channel. It repeated once, clipped and partial:

[Transmission fragment logged] “–––ur—light...below—” [Signal terminates.]
It did not originate from Fleet space.

18:32 LMT — Visual Contact

At twilight, the lower hull lights reflected movement in the bay. Shapes again—massive, slow, but nearer. They followed the curve of the docks, keeping distance yet maintaining formation. The waves did not rise or break. The water instead seemed to part around them, as if repelled.

The harmonic pulse resumed at dusk, perfectly synchronized with The Medusara’s heartbeat monitor systems for 3.2 minutes before fading.
I have ordered all crew to remain on low standby until I can determine whether this phenomenon is planetary or systemic.

22:57 LMT — Personal Addendum

I reviewed the day’s audio recordings. A faint tone persists beneath all deck transmissions—identical frequency, consistent amplitude. It is not Fleet interference. It aligns precisely with the resonance emitted by the coral filaments observed on shore.

It occurs only when I speak.

For now, I will log this as equipment distortion.

But I am beginning to suspect the planet is learning my voice.

— Aurelia, out.
