Log Title: Departure Order — External Assignment
Log Date: Cycle 0 – Phase V: Low Lantern Drift, Lanternmark 68
Commander: Admiral J. Aurelia Caelestis
Vessel: The Medusara
System: Fringe Expanse – Sector 88-Δ
Planet Identified: Solanthis
Designation: Port Moonmarsh
06:42 LMT — Command Directive Received
Imperial Command has issued a reassignment order effective immediately.
All communications with The Nymros System have been unexpectedly cut off. The reading of the stellar map at the expected location has gone completely blank, as though it were uncharted territory.
No debris fields detected. No gravitational collapse signatures observed.
The system is simply… absent.
I have been instructed to investigate.
The Medusara is to depart Solanthis at first light.
08:13 LMT — Final Surface Pass
I conducted a final walk through Port Moonmarsh prior to departure.
The harbor remains unchanged. Lanterns steady. Walkways intact. The Tide Marker continues to emit its low, rhythmic glow.
The residents seemed almost sorrowful I was leaving. Some even asked me to stay awhile longer, however I did inform them of my duties to the Empire.
The tavernkeeper placed my usual request of Moss-Brew tea on the counter before I could ask and he would not allow me to pay, insisting that I should have a tab open for when I return.
09:02 LMT — Inland Observation
From the ridge above the terraces, the inland fields appear stable.
Khett was present at the far edge of the farmstead, adjusting irrigation lines. He did not acknowledge my approach, though I am certain he was aware of it.
When I informed him I would be departing the system, he paused only briefly.
Then he inquired the same as the children at the docks:
"Will you return?"
I couldn't guarantee it. I am unsure if this made him feel a particular way, but he shoved a rake into my hands and asked me to help with his current work. It was a bit silly, but it provided a momentary break from making my rounds of final observations.
10:11 LMT — Orbital Alignment
From orbit, Solanthis continues to present as it always has: partially obscured, energy signatures diffused across the Veiled Ocean.
However-
Long-range scans beyond the Veil show irregular gaps in stellar mapping data. Not interference. Not distortion.
Absence.
Coordinates that previously contained active systems now return no signal, no mass, no light.
The pattern is not random.
It is directional. It has the same sequence that is displayed when the Void Eater moves; however, it does not make sense given the track that these systems are healthy and thriving.
10:46 LMT — Medusara System Note
The Medusara has flagged the outer sectors as “unstable.”
This is not standard Fleet terminology.
When prompted for clarification, the system returned:
“Patterns incomplete. Consumption not verified. Avoidance recommended.”
The phrasing is… unusual.
11:20 LMT — Personal Addendum
Solanthis does not behave like a passive world.
It responds. It adjusts. It withholds.
Solanthis seems to allow only certain types of presence to enter it's orbit, as though it is determining if something- or someone- is worth entering. This suspicion is justified by the locals but I cannot guarantee that this is factual or if this is simply folklore.
If what is occurring in the outer systems is connected to the same underlying principle... then those worlds were not given the same conditions.
I have no evidence to support that conclusion.
I will not include it in the official report.
11:58 LMT — Departure
Departure sequence initiated.
The Veiled Ocean parted along a narrow corridor as the Medusara advanced. The transition was smoother than previous exits.
As though the path had already been prepared.
I will return to Solanthis upon completion of this assignment, pending Command approval.
If conditions permit.
— Aurelia, out.
